Injuries, cards and suspensions
Where injuries come from, how long a player is out, how yellow cards add up and when a player misses a match.
An injured or suspended player cannot start. If you keep an eye on this in advance, you are not hunting for a replacement at the last minute.
Where injuries come from
- In a match — from collisions and duels. A tired player gets injured more often, so low fitness is a risk, not just a weaker performance.
- In training — only at high intensity: someone may pick up a minor injury before the match. Training shows this risk in advance.
If a player gets injured in a match, the game makes the substitution itself as long as substitutions are left. If none are left, the team plays on a man down. An injury also hurts morale and form.

SeverityMedical protocol
On the card and on the "Squad" page (the "Players" menu item) an injured player has a badge with the return date ("Return: …") and a "Recovery: …%" bar. Recovery runs in real time.
Fewer injuries
- A hospital on your staff lowers the chance of injury in matches.
- The Medical Center (a building) shortens recovery — injured players come back sooner.
- Rotate: do not field players with low fitness and do not train at high intensity every day.
Yellow and red cards
- Red — the player leaves the pitch at once and the team plays a man down. After the match he is suspended for the next official match.
- Yellows add up in a run from match to match. When the run reaches the limit, the player misses the next official match and the run resets.
- A player who is one yellow away from a suspension appears in the squad risks ("Coach's advice" block in "Tactics") with his card count.
Suspension
- A suspended player has a badge with the number of matches still to sit out. He cannot be put in the starting eleven.
- A suspension is served in the club's official matches: every cup match the club plays takes one match off the suspension, even though the player could not take part.
- Friendlies do not count: cards in them give no suspensions and do not reduce existing ones. Injuries in friendlies are real.
